Scholarship Program

Scholarship Program

The Scholarship Program helps Adult Family Home providers train and develop qualified caregivers by covering the cost of approved training programs.
Through this program, providers can sponsor caregivers to participate in training that leads to certification and career advancement. The goal is to remove financial barriers that often prevent individuals from entering the caregiving profession.

By supporting caregiver training, the Adult Family Home Workforce Academy helps Adult Family Homes build stronger teams, reduce staffing shortages, and improve the quality of care for residents across Washington State.

The program focuses on preparing caregivers with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the Adult Family Home environment while strengthening the long-term caregiving workforce.

The Scholarship Program is designed to help Adult Family Home providers sponsor caregivers for training and certification.

Step 1 — Provider Identifies a Caregiver
The Adult Family Home provider identifies a caregiver who will participate in the training program. This may be a current employee or a new hire.

Step 2 — Provider Submits the Application
The provider completes the scholarship application on behalf of the caregiver and submits the required information.

Step 3 — Caregiver Signs the Training Contract
Once the application is submitted, the caregiver will receive a training contract outlining the program requirements. The caregiver must review and sign this agreement before training can begin.

Step 4 — Training Enrollment
After the contract is signed, the caregiver will be enrolled in an approved training program.

Step 5 — Training Completion
The caregiver completes the training program and receives a certificate of completion confirming they have successfully finished the required coursework.

The Scholarship Program helps cover the cost of caregiver training programs that lead to certification.

Funding may include support for:

  • Caregiver training program tuition
  • Required course materials
  • Certification preparation support

Scholarship funding is provided to support caregivers as they complete the training needed to become certified and work in Adult Family Homes.

The Adult Family Home Workforce Academy coordinates the scholarship program and helps ensure that caregivers and providers receive guidance throughout the training process.

Program funding availability may vary depending on training capacity and program resources.
